How to hold a wine glass.
A lot of people hold their wine glasses by the bowl not knowing that the proper way to hold it is by the stem. The purpose of stemware is so that you don't have to touch the bowl so your hand doesn't change the temperature of the wine. A lot of wines need to be served at certain temperatures. If you serve a wine that is supposed to be very well chilled and hold it by the bowl the heat from your hands could change the flavour of the wine making it not very good.
I found this picture of a wine snob sniffing a glass with his big snobby nose! BUT, he's holding the glass properly! I couldn't resist.

Haha I am totally guilty of holding the wine glass by the bowl! :)
I swear I won't ever again!
That's ok Brea, I won't tell anyone ;).
sounds complicated. i think i'll stick with the "straight from the bottle" method.
in fact, maybe the bottles themselves need to have stems on them. harder to tell if the wine has legs; but more efficient, and less dishes!
Lol! That would be strange. Can you explain to me how they would make the bottle with a stem? I can't picture it. Hey, maybe you should patent your idea;)
How they would make it, you ask.. Well, details are usually for my underlings, but I'll give it a shot.
I'm envisioning something that can be extended from the base of the bottle as one chooses - something like a camera's tripod. So the bottle looks all normal-like, but then presto, wit the flick of the wrist out comes a unipod, and you've got yourself some finedining.
I think I'll let you patent it. We'll split the profits 50-50. Oui?
OHHH I see! I'll get right on the patent. This is going to be GOLD! I should delete your comment so no one steals your BRILLIANT idea!
I love your nosy little fellow, very cute! I saw this new bottle in store that has a stem(crazy) what do you think about it? Very cutting edge..no? saaayy...are you gonna review some bubbly? I love a good champagne or sparkling white wine from any other region would smell and taste as sweet, or not, I like mine dry, hee hee, so how bout's it?
I haven't had any sparkling wines, or champagnes since I lived in White Rock. I was just starting to get into the bubbles before I left too. I don't want to review a wine I had over 8 months ago though. Don't remember all the characteristics. I promise though, when I get back to Van, We'll get a nice bottle of bubbley and I'll review it on here for you. Sound good Andy? Super.
